So, it's 1990. I walk into Crash! Records in Leeds (a more or less weekly excursion for me at the time), and I ask the assistant if they have any good new vinyl. So she hands me a pile of new stuff, including a few local tunes. But I wasn't familiar with this label yet, so I asked "Is it bleepy?"*** - the girl behind the counter replied "haha, no, but it's really good".All of a sudden, all that New York Garage and Chicago House seemed completely irrelevant and dated.28 years later, and this record still means as much to me as it did nearly 30 (!) years ago. As others have mentioned, a complete game-changer. Thankfully, useless narcissistic bearded hipsters clearly don't know about it, as it still goes for hardly anything at all! Fortunately, I'm one of those people who know the difference between value and price - and this one's better value than Tesco Value, that's for sure :) *** well, it was 1990. lol

This is one of the summer tracks of 1990 and got me into the clubscene/rave scene, I remember when I bought it, the same day as the mackenzie a rhythm shot/higher in the sky. These tracks still give me shivers. 1990 for me saw the releases of some extraordinary releases in electronic music ????

This will be forever in my thoughts as probably 1 of the best 1990 techno rave tunes ever made, absolutely amazing B1 side, Techno Trance (Paradise Is Now) every old skool gig should be putting this one on the decks, this is what it was all about. certainly makes me feel like pulling gurning faces, HA HA.

27 years - that's right. Actually (this comment written 11/02/2018) nearly 28 years and counting as it was first released circa very early spring 1990! And Techno Trance (Paradise Is Now) still sounds absolutely amazing. Every time I listen to this track I get severe goose bumps on overdrive. In fact, without listening to it, just by thinking about it I feel excitement. Real game changer for the times this was without question.

This is where my Techno & Trance journey started in1990. Up until then, it was House & Acid House. I still love it all. But this tune was a game changer. I'll never forget the first time I heard it. Thank you D-Shake!

The best version of Techno Trance is the original "Paradise Is Now" on the original Go Bang! Records release. Without question really. Just an absolute stormer. And it's TECHNO btw, NOT trance. Even if it happens to be in the title. And however much it was played or some may think overplayed, there's no way a track that massive was ever going to be underplayed. Much like GTO's "Pure (Energy)" on Go Bang! It was played for too damn good a reason imo, because it absolutely, undeniably rocks! It really should've been an A side track though. These remixes arranged slightly differently here but keep the main gist of the original and still have their place in a set. Overall a bit more DJ friendly than Paradise Is Now. However, I'm not going to concentrate on the remixes of 'Techno Trance'. The hidden gem imo is AA1 - The ORR Some Remix of Yaaah. Yes, the original was overplayed at the time imho and became quite commercial, I think it charted, even in the UK IIRC. It even sounded more commercial. But this remix which happens to only be found on this Cooltempo pressing from the UK sheds an altogether different light to said track.Still retains the "wooh, c'mon" samples. But is sparcer and less compressed. Leaves out the four to the floor present on the original with the beats arranged into a freestyle / electro style rhythm. Utilising an 808 distorted bass kick sound every 2 beats and a droning sound on the off beat which I suspect may have been sampled from RSW's 'Ozone Breakdown' (originally from an early Heaven 17 track? The name escapes me), together with other originally made drum machine sounds and a brand new, deep bassline. Overlayed with simple, dark but epic chords. This was played on the UK pirates but the DJ's always chose not to give track details. Not sure why, as this release wasn't exactly obscure. Whatever the reason, a much underrated and underplayed, underground warehouse classic if ever there was one.

Listened to this in 1990 and hadn't heard anything else like it . It was one of the tunes that got us hooked onto early techno / trance and another track that has stood the test of time. Still been dropped today by DJs and getting a great reaction . Go Bang was such a great label back then , putting out lots of classic tunes that still sound good . Even the new Detox stuff isn't bad which has evolved from this label. Join us on our other page if your into this sort of music and era @ http://facebook.com/weloveoldskool

A long drawn out trancer that builds and builds with a superb metalic sounding synth sound pulsating away into a sublime breakdown and back out again just getting deeper. nothing obvious about this one and a lot classier than most of the other stuff in this genre from this time which is bore out in how well it has aged, still eminently listenable especially if at the breakdown you slide a nice downbeat vocal in (re sasha and his infamous nothing compares to you, sinead o'connor mix). this is one not just for the trance heads but all lovers of house from this era. whoo c'mon c'mon

Aad de Mooy AKA D Shake has to be one of the most overlooked and underrated figures in the hisotry of electronic music! While it is true that he hasn't really produced a great deal of music or torrents of classics, his name will be forever inked in golden letters inside of a platinum frame, due to his timelesss classic "Techno Trance (paradise is now)"! Regardless of the genre, the trends, the ever changing and evolving times, this beauty of a tune will forever remain one of the greatest, most influential tracks in the fabulous world of electronic music. It has one of the catchiest bass lines ever, and if you by now have managed not to have heard the great sample this one packs, you've probably spend the last 15+ years living in oblivion. It's an old favorite on virtually any decent retro party: go ahead and ask the likes of Garnier, Saunderson, Aquaviva, Clarke and 'em legends! Pay your respects :-)

If I had to choose one record as my all-time favorite, this would be it. A hardcore warehouse jam, but with a very fierce "gay" disco bassline that will rock any conceivable dancefloor. The song has a looped "yaaaah" refrain that is downright perverse, punctuated by wooh's from the Little Richard school of self-expression. And yet, the track also has a very tuff hip hop edge, thanks to another sample that goes, "Make some noise!," and militant rat-a-tat-tat drum sticks. (So much street edge, in fact, that Kris Bonez of Genaside II once cited it in an interview as inspiration to make his own sample-based dance music.) In my view, the record is total amalgamation of "gay" and "street" elements which works unlike any other. Peerless.

While both DEA remixes of "Technotrance" aren't really bad, the real beauties of this release are the techno-trance tracks on the b-side. Both of them are so hypnotic and dreamy you'll instantly fall in love on the first listening. "L Trip - a - Luna" takes you on a journey steadily pushing you towards a higher state of mind, reaching that "Wired Skies" just makes you wanna smile forever then. Highly recommended!

First heard this at Slam 2 In The Park 1990 and it nearly took off the roof. Picked up a 2nd hand copy recently and it still sounds very fresh. Love the way that techno producers at that time used vocal samples so effectively. So much better than a lot of the boring minimal music out there these days.

Heard this for the 1st time at Eastern Bloc records in Manchester at 9am after an all night party in the Hacienda. Shook me from head to toe. I'm glad to say I was the 1st person in M'cr to have this record.

Yaaaaaah is seen by some as the first ever "gabber" track to be made (or at least to be called that). This may sound strange for such a soft tune by current standards, but the siren-like vocal sound was definitely a step towards a harder sound for house/techno music.

In 1990 there was no real hardcore. In 1989/1990 The Netherlands is producing it's own sound. By this time you see that the dutch house musicians is inventing the dutch house sound. Meanwhile making the foundation for hardcore. But not D Shake. He was making is own personal sound. In no way his music can be linked to the later Gabber sound. In fact I remember an intervieuw with de Mooy on Amsterdam local television in wich he was saying that the hardcore sound was irritating him and he said that it was not real music. I remember de Mooy standing in his living room and making fun about the people going to "hardcore" party's.

At the time of release, 'Techno Trance' was as The hardest track I had heard. A repetative bassline, heavy kick drum, looped riff and 'whoo - c'mon sample'. Still sends shivers through my spine when I hear it!
