Memuro
This was released as a continuation of the "Berlin Nr. 1" tape series, in a time when the Berlin rap scene was already deeply divided into different camps. Die Sekte had left Royal Bunker for Aggro berlin and Sido was on the way to becoming a star, while Kool Savas, Melbeatz and Eko Fresh were enjoying commercial success with Optik Records. Most of the remaining artists on Royal Bunker (let alone Prinz Porno, who was a few months away from leaving the label when this sampler was released) have remained in their underground positions until this day, and this CD is a nice example of the type of battle rap that defined the label's sound during its heyday. Dry synthesizer-based beats, a rap style focused more on technique than on messages, and lyrics that are hard and explicit, yet still have a lot of humour. All of the songs here were done exclusively for this sampler, and the artist lineup includes some interesting combinations (Meyah Don together with Rhymin Simon). Despite the variety of performers and producers, a coherent sound and style is kept through most of the CD, which has its highlights on the party tunes "Fahne" and "Oh Yeah!", as well as on the techniquelly advanced and rapidly rapped "Keksin" (with turkish parts by Fuat) and "Das Beste Label Der Besten Stadt".
