My copy is warped. No one else reported this so it may be unique to mine. In fact I'm not sure if this is the same pressing -- it's definitely not 180 grams and "Been Here and Gone So Soon" is pressed as track A6, even though there are only five bands on the first side. Weird. Also, listen to "Been Here and Gone So Soon" and compare it to John Fahey's "Jaya Shiva Shankarah." Either he ripped off the Insect Trust note for note and lied about where he got it, or the Insect Trust ripped off an ancient Hindu chant note for note and lied about writing it. The second seems much more plausible but the first sounds more like it would appeal to John Fahey's sense of humor. A mystery until I can find the chant that they're apparently based on.

My copy has B1 playing as A6 despite what the labels say, i.e. side A ends with "Been Here And Gone So Soon" and side B begins with "Declaration Of Independence". Whatever, The Insect Trust's debut is a great, pioneering and all-too-often overlooked LP, and this pressing sounds terrific to my ears.

this band hails from Hoboken, New Jersey and serves a song-plate laden with an amalgamatik eclection of ameriquarian Folk-heritage blending Jazz & Mountain Music into a captivating flow of Rock & Blues (or as to be found on some press-release-sheets: "their musical knowledge spans a period from pre-World War I to 2001"(!!!) ... feat. Nancy Jeffries ( singer (great voice!) and former bass player in The SOLIPS (which is pre-Insect Trust) ...Trevor Koehler (a baritone sax that enriched the San Francisco Jazz-scene for ten years) ... Luke Faust (banjo wizard!) ...Warren A. Gardener (he derived the band name INSECT TRUST from the works of William S. Burroughs!) ...Bob Palmer (saxes) ...Bill Barth ( short-time road-manager for Bukka White and manager (for one year) of the legendary Skip James (!) and the Memphis Blues Festival was actually the result of Bill's friendship with many black Bluesmen! ...and he plays electric guitar in The Insect Trust) Bill Folwell (formerly played trumpet & string-bass in ARS NOVA and electric bass in the ground-breaking "New Grass"-album by Albert Ayler (!) , he joined Insect Trust after the recording of this album! ...It’s a pity Robbie Basho did not record an album with this GREAT band!!
