Hello, not all polysom editions sounds good, but this one was very good...

It was mastered from the original tapes and yes, it sounds really good to me.

most reissues on Polysom have been great... I own the Maria Fumaca reissue and it sounds incredible, thick 180g vinyl.

Polysom is not a panacea and quality of sound maybe terrible as like Olivetti cut..

Lot of misinformation on this release! This record was never released on a blue star label- this was a creative label design by a modern bootlegger. There was only one press of this record. Odeon golden/Amber label. It sold terribly and was recalled by Donato's label, much to his disappointment

BEWARE! Some folks obviously try to sell unofficial reissues for 500 plus. If you buy it for that price I can't help you anyway ;–)

It is the bootleg. I have a copy. It sounds great. The bass is boosted a lil bit, too, which is nice (no distortion). I would definitely recommend getting this (still expensive), unless you don't care about dropping the bread for the original....

Yes, its a bootleg (however nobody know who pressed it) But it sounds okay. I want to sell this copy, check my offer.

Thanks man, mine has a blue star, looks exactly like original but does NOT look vtg, which worries me because I probably paid full price for a reissue. =(

Initial copies of first and second pressings came with a b&w 10" x 10" printed insert with shots of the musicians and the two studio engineers, Nivaldo and Toninho on one side and printed lyrics on the other. 2nd pressings (from 1974) came on the revised tan 'swirl' Odeon labels.

A gem of a record -- one we wouldn't part with for anything! Joao Donato's best known as one of the founding fathers of bossa nova -- better known for his 60s work over the years, than he was for 70s electric work like this. Fortunately, international groove sounds picked up on the record years back, and it's been firmly brought back into the limelight as the classic it truly is! The set's an incredible reworking of Donato's sound -- the gentle jazzy phrasing of the bossa years turned towards mellow groovers that feature a heck of a lot of electric piano. The album's got a few classic funky tracks, and some even more wonderful tracks that feature Joao working sparely on Fender Rhodes -- accompanying himself on raspy vocals on most of the cuts! The whole thing's great -- "Cala Boca Menino" and "Chorou , Chorou".
