Notes
Danny Welsh has built a reputation as a live performer playing a mix of original songs and well chosen covers on the London pub scene. Although he loves playing live, he has always thought of himself primarily as a songwriter.For his first album, Watching The Weather, he has gathered together 12 songs and an all star band made up of some of the most sought after musicians on the scene.
It was recorded at Shrunken Head Studios in South London over two sessions.
Boz Boorer needs no introduction - as well as a solo artist in his own right, he is a founder member of The Polecats, Morrissey's musical director and a session player and producer for countless other bands and solo artists. We were lucky that he was able to join us for the second session and plays on half of the songs on this album.
Keyboard wizard Seamus Beghan has played with everyone from Iggy Pop to Morrisey and Paul Weller and is equally at home playing rock and roll, boogie woogie, country or 101 other styles.
Matt Radford is a double bass player with his roots in the London blues scene having cut his teeth with Big Joe Louis and backed many blues legends. Over the years he has been much in demand as both a studio and live player for Nick Lowe, Tinita Tikaram and many more.
Jeff Mead has been Danny's right hand man in many of his musical projects over the years and on this release , as well as playing guitar and steel, is also in the producer's seat. Jeff has played with many different bands both as a session player and a fill member including Le Rue, Sonny George, Paul Ansell's Number 9 and currently Sarah Vista.
Patrick Horgan is another long time collaborator of Danny's. He has been playing bass for Slim's Cyder Co. for the last few years but he is also a great guitar player and played guitar on the first Shrunken Heads session.
Paul Atkinson has played with many rock'n'roll legends over the years as well as Bees Make Honey (one of the first wave of British pub rock bands), Charlie Dore, Micky Jupp and, currently, Paul Ansell's Number 9.
Jim Russell's CV shows just what a versatile drummer he is having played with The Inmates, The Human League, Ducks Deluxe Curved Air and Los Pacaminos to name but a few.
Paul joined us for the first session and Jim was pounding the skins on the second.
