Blackstalker
Amidst much of the early dancecore stuff that was being turned out in 2001 comes this belter from Rocco & Bass-T. The title track is one of my favorites in the early dancecore genre. Many songs by the two artists have a traditional eurocheese hook and simple production pattern - Comin' Up Strong follows the formula but Sven & Sebastian go above and beyond the call of duty. Both tracks borderline commercial and hard trance for that unique Aqualoop-style sound when technological limits on our basslines were starting to change. This is a good one to let mix in right before the vocal samples come in. What makes this cut so sweet is that huge hook that keeps the dancefloor pumping but carries a vibe that felt oldschool back in the day. I remember the melody from the Spanish Makina track Free!! - This Groove. Side B Viva Canarias will fill a set quite nicely but doesn't have the same energy as the A-Side. It's a good track to drop on a throwback night where not everyone know the song but will recognize the Rocco & Bass-T production style. This single is highly recommended for any classic CT or hard trance collection - masterpiece!
