Issued a couple of months before the masterpiece of an album "Xine", this 3-tracker is meant to work as an introduction, a taste of things to come if you will, but it quite easily goes beyond being a simple teaser and stands alone as one of my favorite releases from Sven. Apart from all the usual suspects that one might expect to find on his release, it's rather apparent that he had to be in the proverbial zone when he created it, as not only individual tracks are extremely well thought out and well produced, but they carry themselves with a lightness and ease that is only associated with those special and rare occasions, ones that don't come around very ofter but you instinctly feel when they do.I think it might also be fair to mention that despite the space restrictions of a single side of a 12' wax, the A side offers an excellent track-to-track progression, with the classically inclined ambient arrangements of "Xine Light" serve as a magnificant opening to the subsequent "Xine Rising", as the later introduces a sensuous and subtle beat that takes the sound into a more lively, yet still decidely blissful territory. An absolutely brilliant release, ideal for those lazy weekend mornings or setting the mood once the sun goes down.
