The album Music To Fall Asleep by Klimek was the soundtrack to a lengthy afternoon nap I just woke from. I had a wondrous, near-lucid dream about flying through the dark with lights in my hands (yeah, don't ask) to the tune of these tracks. It all had a very transparent, crystal quality about it; I'm sure the copious amounts of tinkly sounds and reverb throughout the album contributed to that. I remember wondering whatever these heavenly sounds could be. But I'll shut up before I'll get too fabulous and include pink unicorns. Suffice it to say that naps and the right music can produce nice half-awake dreams, and this album certainly delivered the right music.

Klimek's second album, MUSIC TO FALL ASLEEP, still uses the micro-loop techniques of his first, but the results are much more interesting. Right off the bat, the tonal quality of "Pathways (Verbunden) To Work" is much more majestic, more expansive. The guitars on "Standing (Ausser) On The Beach (Gefahr)," too, now have other instruments to accompany them, and "Working Towards (Yuppies With) Independence (Jeeps)" actually offers them a chance to play a full riff. As well, the tracks also form a more cohesive whole, with the sustained tones of "Kingdoms Here We (Wiggin' By Night) Come" segue into the dreamy "In (Elastisch) Limbo." The title track carries a hint of sadness, especially as the manipulated strings appear halfway through, while "Verlust (White, No Trails) Der Motorik" starts with a sharp whistling and continues icily, warming up only when it echoes into "Catalyst (Celluloid)." The crystalline melancholy of "Kälteschaden (Wärmetod)" reaches out it tendrils, but "Les Mots D'amour (Hinweg)" finally brings back the warmth, stretching like a cat in the sun. This album may lull you into a trance, but is much too interesting to put you to sleep.
