That album was obscure before being reissued, and it is now a classic. The first three tracks are from a movie score, Fragment of Fear. "Stepping Stones" has been compiled many times, and deservedly because it is a monster funky tracks with the heaviest flute playing you can imagine. There are re-arranged versions of "Something" (Harris produced a Shirley Bassey album around it), "Give Peace a Chance" (with more drums and percussion you can imagine), "Light My Fire" (very noisy and hard-hitting), "Wichita Lineman" (very quiet compared to the those tracks) and a sophisticated easy-listening "Paint It Black" ; and an atmospheric original beside the 3 aforementioned tracks: "Footprints on the Moon" (which beg to be in a soundtrack). The covers were stipulated by Warner. The cd version includes 2 bonus tracks: "Lulu's Theme" (Harris was a guest on her show, and got public attention thanks to her), which sounds like go-go music in a 60's spy film, and an alternative "Footprints on the Moon". The 8 page booklet includes a 2 pages history of Johnny Harris and 10 pages of his memories about his British career, the album, its tracks, Shirley Bassey, his American career ... Very illuminating.

The story of "Movements" began early in 1969 with Johnny hired to MD Lulu's BBC show "A Happening For Lulu" which featured a different Eurovision hopeful each week along with a featured instrumental section of Johnny and his band playing popular hits requested by the viewers! Lulu and Johnny went on to win Eurovision 1969 with Boom Bang A Bang and Johnny was rewarded with a record deal for Warner Brothers who would release Movements (1970), Man In The Wilderness (1971) and All To Bring You Morning (1973) before he left for the US. Singles released were the space age classic "Footprints On The Moon" and the moody suspense theme "Fragment Of Fear" from the film of the same name starring David Hemmings. Shirley Bassey was a friend of Johnny's and loved his unique arrangement of "Light My Fire" so much she recorded it on her next album! "Movements" was recorded with the best London session musicians in the spring of 1970, was performed live at The Royal Albert Hall and was pressed by Warner's three times in the UK (on orange, green and burbank labels) and finally reissued on CD in 2002!
