Shakagul
An unbelievable melding of Morricone style Spaghetti Western with a slick Italian lounge aesthetic that properly weaves in and out of the subject's Latin/South American roots. It's a really surprising album, both cohesive and expansive, because the Budos Band / Menahan Street Band players are so tight, and able to summon and insert some really driven and funky grooves into the subject matter. I know a lot of Italian style OST doesn't hit the ears in a comprehensive way, and sound more like sound bites from different stages of the films, but this plays beautiful as a long play album, or if you just need to digest some of the groovy thematic stuff for a mix. An absolute pleasure, not just from the band, concept, and production, but the packaging is thoroughly expert and brings a lot to the table. Extremely enjoyable, and slips perfectly into my Italian Lounge and OST section. =)
