So much better than the overpriced and overrated, hipster-oriented Mondo issue.

Not why it has some pops. Kind of bummed.

You're really picky if this pressing makes you bummed in any way. My copy has some sections with a few pops and a bit of surface noise that I can hear when the music completely fades out, but overall it still sounds amazing.

This is such a beautifully presented and executed pressing. I had seen pictures and knew it was going to be beautiful, but it's even more gorgeous in person. The vinyl is the prettiest I've come across and was surprised by how thick and solidly made the vinyl itself is. The artwork on the cover and inside the gatefold is lovely, and is substantially constructed. The sound is absolutely phenomenal! It plays at 45 rpm and is extremely dynamic. Had a few pops in the beginning, but I was so anxious to play it I had forgotten to clean it first. Other than that, it is very clear with no background noise. This score is hauntingly beautiful and combines Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake with original score composed by Clint Mansell, breathing new life and textures into a classic, creating a darker, moodier Swan Lake. It's unfortunate that it does not include the track by LCD Soundsystem, but it's clear why; It would have felt out of place and less cohesive if it had. This is a must for soundtrack buff's and Tchaikovsky lovers alike. I purchased it directly from Mondo, and it took about a month to ship, but it was well worth the wait.

Then you haven't come across Mondo's 2001 "Beyond the Infinite" variant: https://www.discogs.com/Alex-North-Music-For-2001-A-Space-Odyssey-The-Original-Score-By-Alex-North/release/6344514 . To each his own, but I'm not even sure I would put this in my top 10 color variants from Mondo alone. Jurassic Park, The Visitor, Shawn of the Dead, Pet Semetary, Gravity, Coraline, Here Comes The Devil, The Omen, and 2001 are all better looking to me off the top of my head. The second disc is definitely much better looking than what I call "Watery Milk" on the first.I'd say your assessment of everything else is spot on! Great score. Little creepy to listen to around the house though haha.

Mansell takes one of the most revered classical pieces and turns it into an energetic film score. The fact that this score was unoriginal prevented him from getting an Oscar, but if it were to be included, it would have surely won. When you watch the "Black Swan", the music pretty much defines the movie. Even more so, because the movie is about ballet, and there are numerous scenes with little to no dialogue.
