Some good tracks on the mix albeit rather obvious and with a commercial bent. Nevertheless, some atrocious tracks on there as well. It's not the tunes however which make this compilation resolutely awful. It's the mixing. None of the mixes are mixed well. Alex P's is about the best on that score but it's still far from good. The Nicky Holloway cd is fairly bad with its fair share of trainwrecks (beats catching up in the mix etc). However, nothing, nothing compares to Block's abomination. I personally would be ashamed to release a cd which had the level of mistakes that Block's cd had. He must have been pissed at the time or smoking crack-cocaine. If I was Telstar, I would have told him or his mix engineer to do it again. Horrendous key clashes: The transition between Xpansions and Felix is one of the worst key clashes I've ever heard in my life. Not even bothering to mix properly: The mix between Felix and Rozalla is absolutely the worst mix I've heard on a mix cd (if you can actually call it a mix!). The introduction before the vocal "Everybody's Free" is brought in at the wrong time (near the end of a bar in Felix) and it's not even in time. Poor Mixes and Mastering: The mix between Rozalla and Jinny is comical. Firstly, it is atrocious. Secondly, it shows that the Mastering is haphazard on this cd to say the least. Both Rozalla and Jinny are at completely different volumes which is unforgivable for a studio mix. Trainwreck city: The less said about the mix between Degrees of Motion and Mr Fingers the better (even though it lasts only 5 seconds). If you want this album, please reconsider. I spent £3 on it in 1998 and felt cheated. That's how bad it is!
