Brariel
A delicate and pretty compilation showcasing the minimal side of 1994 ambience. Usually available for a good price these days, so if you're into this era at all it's well worth owning.

Boredom is…this album. I like static ambient (I've got, er, 10 Mathias Grassow albums) but this one doesn't hold any attention at all. The pieces are too much of the same cloth: gentle pads, a little occasional arpeggiation, maybe a touch of percussion every now and then. The second Opiate track is really out of place, though, sounding more like :zoviet*france: or The Hafler Trio (which, in an odd way, almost makes it the best track on the disc). I'll agree with the reviewer who loves the last track, though — it's about the only keeper on here.

A truly masterpiece that none of the subsequent releases in the "Boredom-series" ever matched. The final track Dawn has to be the best ever Danish ambient production - actually painting pictures of early mornings on my mind.
