X-MEN
When I first heard the bootleg of this, I thought it was a bit strange, but amusing and somehow interesting. "1975, we brought you an album... with the song...". Then that sample from "House Of God" by DHS, and the cheerful crowd. It sounds like if Barry White had composed a house track 30 years ago. The bootleg went to be very popular: there was even a CD-Single pressing. But then, it was withdrawn to the request of Barry White himself. However, a cover was later produced and approved, sung by Elroy "Spoonface" Powell. And this is the version most people heard afterwards. The Vocal Edit and Extended Mixes are similar to the bootleg, with some samples left from the crowd, the original orchestra and the DHS tone. The Sharan Jax mix, is probably the best version on this single, with a complete new orchestra upfront. The Basement Bros and Loop Brothers versions are more about late night madness. The first one with a big bass and trancey synths. The other give more importance to the DHS sample, and brings in Jaydee's rhythm loop from "Plastic Dreams" (over-used in my opinion). "Across The Ocean" is an instrumental, funky flavoured B-Side.
