Brick my own
Does one need any more evidence of Xenakis being a pioneer and visionary? This astounding electronic work sets the standard for "noise" compositions. Imagine being engulfed in a slowly shifting and modulating continuous sound; it first sounds like gongs, strings, and clarinets (I assume this was mostly created from acoustical instrument sources). A deeper, lower, noisier sound starts to develop, almost like that of machinery. If you're willing to stay the length, the trip is amazing. And to think, this was created in 1971, years before Organum (the David Jackman project), Merzbow, MB, and any other so-called "noisicians". No wonder that Merzbow and others contributed to a "Persepolis" remix project. He didn't do any better.

Marilbine
totally agree.makes neubauten's efforts on 'halber mensch' - probably the closest sonic comparison in my collection before encountering this - though enjoyable sound lightweight and pop in comparison.the idea that this was used in an event to be witnessed by a head of state and experienced by the general public makes it even more mind-boggling.outside of 'rock' and i include in this haino, galas, scott walker, nurse with wound etc does anything like this still get made?
