You can forget about the sugar sweet sounds of Motown; this is sung straight from Brenda's soul with minimal musical accompanyment and a straight-through approach to production. The vocal is what this song is all about yet the whole creates a distinctive and hugely rewarding experience that wouldnt be the same without any of the contributory elements. I remember the first time I heard this tune I wondered if it was sung off key. That's how different it is. Suffice to say, I've been hooked ever since.
