This is actually a very good album of soft romantic music, and is extremely hard to find nowdays because it was recorded in mono and the tracks have not been endlessly recycled on other Somerset/Stereo-Fidelity/Alshire albums.Besides the usual pop favorites like, Alone Together; Embraceable You; and Deep Purple you will find some excellent small combo arrangements of classical themes cleverly camouflaged under titles like, Rachmaninoff And You; Tchaikovsky After Hours; and a favorite title of mine...The Lady Likes Chopin. The guitarist is Joseph Sgro (born 1900 - died July 15, 1994), who wwas unfamilira to me but after looking him up, I am quite impressed. He was an arranger, composer, conductor and teacher and considered by many as one of the world's greatest guitarists. Normally overlooked because he lived/worked in the Philadelphia area, he worked with the Victor Hugo and Paul Whiteman Orchestras; served in Ed Harvey's morning show band on WCAU Radio; and musician on Philadelphia TV shows like "Action in the Afternoon," "Candy Carnival" and "Atom Squad".I guess his main claim to fame was as studio guitarist for Cameo Parkway Records recording on mega hits like Chubby Checker's recordings including The Twist, and most every track by The Orlons, Dee Dee Sharpe, The Dovells, and on Swan Records with Freddie Cannon. Other musicians on this album include on bass, Somerset's resident arranger during the early years Joseph Kuhn; Jack Cassidy on drums; and Vincent Montana (Vibraphone).
