Notes
Recorded 5–13 March 1969 at Sound Techniques, LondonDIFFERENT MONO MIX:- The mix on the Mono version is radically different to the Stereo version. This is similar to other Parlophone LPs of the time, most notably on McGough & McGear where the track featuring Jimi Hendrix (uncredited) "So Much" has heavy Psych effects on the Mono version and none on the Stereo version. The same can also be said of "Dear Mr Mr Fantasy" on Traffic 1st LP ILP 961 - which again has the Mono version laden with Psychedelic effects, and the Stereo version having none.
On this LP many tracks are different in this Mono mix - but none more so than "Sarah In The Isle Of Wight". On the Stereo version this track is essentially folksy + rock tinges in the chorus. Whereas on the Mono version it is radically different - having echo, reverb, and an excellent 'fuzz guitar' in the chorus. This is barely audible in the Stereo version. So make no mistake, in Mono "Sarah In The Isle Of Wight" is full blown Psych of the very highest order.
The most interesting part of the Mono mix is this Electric Psych Guitar remains UNCREDITED on this LP. Could this be Hendrix again? It is certainly someone with a very high level of skill, and it certainly isn't any of the musicians credited. Jimi Hendrix was uncredited on McGough McGear and it is equally possible he could have featured here.
