Heavyweight vinyl (200 Gram)
Gatefold sleeve.

The inner sleeve advises that lyrics in italics are written by Jeremy Michael Ward, however the release does not come with a lyrics sheet and the tracklisting does not contain any italicised titles.

Recorded at The Mansion in Laurel Canyon, Los Angeles, CA; Akadamie Mathematique of Philosophical Sound Research. Mixed at Cello Studios, Los Angeles.
Mastered at Sony Mastering Studios, New York City, NY.

Atrocious pressing. This is a perfect example of why people complain about picture disc's. Grab the Music on Vinyl pressing instead, unless you want this as a collectors item.

Coool!!! One question though, why was this masterpiece pressed on picture disc of all formats?

How to make money with your records. Master the album with no dynamics. 10 years later, sell a half way decent master and wait for people to pay hundreds of dollars just for a copy of the album that doesn't sound squashed to death.

I had a recordstore at the time and the guys of Mars Volta send the book (that should have come with the LP but wasn't finished in time) to me after the vinyl was released. I might still have a couple of them somewhere.

I can confirm that the record did not include a booklet. There was some printing issue with the booklet & I had to order mine from GSL after I got the record.

It didn't come with the book. I remember that because my friend bought a book online somewhere at the time that was released after the pressing was.

Stupid question, my copy doesn't seem to have matrix run out numbers (although appreciate someone pointing me in the right direction if I have just missed them.)Is there any other way to tell which disc or side you have / about to play?CheersDan

The etchings are there, but too imperceptible. Try under sun light.

I came across a copy with the silver kinda looking sloppy... grooves look fine though... any thoughts? I don't know how this record was pressed with the silver, so I'm not sure if the silver looking "folded" should affect play or not. I'm no pressing expert.

porosh
Loud as heck! I had heard from a fellow fan that GSL sent replacement pressings to people that complained about the poor pressing job. Maybe you got a dud. Mine isn’t so hot either.

mine doesn't have the printed inner sleeves, they are just plain black.

I have two copies, one has printed inner sleeves with writing and the other has matte black sleeves with a separate insert. Both records have GSL-75 etched into the inner circle. Everything about the record seems legit. Same heavy cardstock, vinyl is silver with black border, poster in both is the same, and sound quality is the same.

I agree it is a jump to say it is a bootleg. Also no one included in the description to this record that also some copies of the record included a book written by cedric.

Urllet
it is a bit of a reach to leave from plain black sleeves to it being abootleg. Are the records identical to those picured? Is there anything recorded in the record's runout area? Is there anything that strikes you as being odd about the release?
