Some or should I say all three Nik Pascal albums where released on CDR on Creel Pone years ago. Since this guys passed who knows what will ever happen to his catalog which is a real loss. I know his music isnt for ever ear buts its unique and deserves a nice re-release on cd! Hope one day a label will pick this stuff up perhaps Finder Keepers!

The other responder was correct about Clyde Clifford and Beaker Street on KAAY 1090. Program ran from 1966-1972. I grew up in Little Rock and this was the show to listen to. Clyde came back several years later to do the show on Magic 105 then later The Point. Here's a link where you can download some of those later shows. Go to the one for May 13, 2001 first hour and you'll hear the familiar voice and background music. http://beakerstreet.com/MPEG/mpegs.htm

It ran longer than 1972. I stumbled across "The MIGHTY 1090" back in 1968 when I was up late one night tuning through the radio dial. Clyde Clifford ( his on air name) didn't leave until 1974. And I was still picking up Beaker Street in 1976 way up in North Dakota at Grand Forks AFB. I use to copy the shows on cassette for when I came in from the fields and bomber pad after working the night shift. Out of about 2 dozens tapes, I still have maybe 4 good ones left in box. If I ever get around to digging them up, I'll post them on Facebook.

Maybe I know a guru of electronics influenced by Raicevic - the absolute guru of tripped out electronics, to be more accurate. His name is... Conrad Schnitzler (R.I.P.). If HE ever had the ability to hear these early USA-spaced-out masterpieces, of course!

I know exactly who Conrad Schnitzler is, a member of Tangerine Dream on Electronic Meditation, as well as Kluster, before embarking on a solo career. It's really hard telling if he ever heard these Nik Raicevic albums, I don't know how many American-made albums made onto German soil, I'm sure the major label albums probably made it to Germany, but some private label like Nik Raicevic's own Narco, probably not. Actually, as it turns out, it was Morton Subotnick that had a big impact on Conrad Schnitzler.

Back sometime around 1969-1972 my friends and I would drive out in the middle of nowhere in the middle of Minnesota (seemed redundant at the time!) and DX an FM radio station in another state that used this record as the background of it's after midnight show. It was a great show and I wish I could recall the call letters...but hey, we were all pretty high at the time :) I loved this sound and will try to get a copy of it and his other works.

That would be "Beaker Street" from KAAY in Little Rock, with a 50,000-watt signal that could be heard all through the Midwest and even into Montana and Wyoming at night. Underground rock music hosted by Clyde Clifford. I listened in secret on a transistor radio.

This is not exactly what you expect from the Buddah label. What you have here is strange and trippy electronic music played on Moog by Nik Raicevic. Three extended cuts, all with drug-oriented themes: "Cannabis Sativa", "Methedrine", and "Lysergic Acid Diethylamide". "Cannabis Sativa" consists of strange droning and sound effects. He revisited this piece on his final album, Zero Gravity by including extra sound effects. "Methedrine" has some really strange sounds I can't explain, while "Lysergic Acid Diethylamide" is actually "Cannabis Sativa" played at twice the speed. All the same sound effects are there, just twice as fast. It seems that this album was released around 1968 or '69 as Numbers on his own Narco label. Like all his albums on that label, this title bore a warning sticker on the shrink wrap that stated: "Do not listen to this album if you are stoned". It seems that Nik Raicevic wanted the Numbers album to receive better distribution, so he got Buddah to release it in 1970, as Head. The album comes with a coloring book, but it seems copies with the coloring book are rather elusive, probably due to children of the owners probably used it as an actual coloring book, even if it consisted of sci-fi artwork from Nik Raicevic. Buddah apparently disliked the drug references of the album and had him booted. Buddah, from what I can gather, seemed to be a fairly conservative label, either that, or they just didn't want to start controversies. They probably had trouble as is with Captain Beefheart (Safe as Milk was his only release on the label). Since Raicevic was kicked off Buddah, he went back to recording his following albums on Narco, once again. For those who enjoy albums like George Harrison's Electronic Sound or the more twisted stuff from Mort Garson, this album, and all of Raicevic's other albums, come highly recommended.
