Black Friday 2016. Went hunting for a copy of the Chinatown RSD release; Jerry Goldsmith's bleak score to Polanski's 1974 devastating noir classi-HOLY SHIT IS THAT THE UNDERWORLD SOUNDTRACK!!!!!1So yeah, nice little surprise for me. Honestly I don't remember much of the movies beyond Matrix-vampires fight werewolves, but boy was I always excited when the soundtracks would come out*. There was always an interesting slew of new tracks and remixes from some great industrial/alternative artist. Danny Lohner? Maynard? Each in 3 forms no less! The records themselves sound nice and dynamic even (again, surprises). There's some neat storyboard art on the inner sleeves and it's housed in an extremely glossy cover…like it is notable. I don't know if there was a dual purpose for killing actual vampires so they had to make it really shiny to mimic sunlight, but I can't even get a picture of the damn thing without going blind. Anyway, make sure to go out and pick up the Chinatown reissue. 5 stars.*It was the same case for the Resident Evil movies.
