Gigafish
This album from Greaves sounds like a "new wave avantgarde", an electronic music too cultured to strike at the first listening. Surreal histories recorded in Paris, walking alone through fluorescent lights. The atmosphere of this work is, partly, similar to Peter Hammill's "A Black Box", but with more tension and less dramatics; 80's music from 'progressive' musicians is very intriguing, because is more pensive and complex than others made at the same time. But this is not old-fashioned, this experiments have more in common with 90's electronic than 80's plastic sound. His voice is very evocative and there's something diseased, but in a positive way. Another example that what was related to Henry Cow and Slapp Happy is still in a next future.
