"Wave Mantra" could become a most sought-after CD in the catalogue of such labels as Hypnos or Hearts of Space, but Sean Washburn modestly released it on his own. Steve Roach and Robert Rich could only dream about composing the deepest and most wonderful album in their vein, but Sean Washburn simply did this, not caring much for recognition. So it became a hidden treasure, known to very few listeners. I was lucky to grab a copy floating around at a decent price, and what it had to offer! The first track "To Thee Homage" immediately immerses you into a vast and deep soundworld. Play it loud, and you will have chills down your spine. The journey has just begun, as the repeated voice sample states."Hemlock Grotto" has a flute solo with water pouring on the background and soft layered synths. You think you are at complete peace? Hey, it's only a second track!"Cirrus" goes deeper, symbolising sound of air. Wind-chimes, soft whistling and quiet noise in the background help your imagination reach the most wonderful and intimate places of nature. Who said you cannot BE there?"Trans-World India" represents sound of earth by fragile drum beats, reverberating with low bass. Wind-chimes again, some delayed sitar, hissings, nature sounds and......you are "Welcome"! Shining, sparkling, purest environment, not sounding cheesy at all. Maracases, bells, wind-chimes and layered synths are all greeting you with light. You go on with "Inner Gate". Thick sounds of didgeridoo, throat singing, heart-aching flute solo and purifying water sounds.BANG! Thunder sounds appear here and there in "Low Barometer". The rain starts falling and some lonesome flute plays in the background. Are you still on Earth?!Another fantastic flute solo is in "Between The Heartbeats". The rain falls heavier , the birds sing and occasional drum sounds appear. The journey is coming to an end. "A Sacred Voice - Cloud Tree" sounds quiet with water dripping and night insects chirping. Time to go back. This is my first track-by track review, and I had to stop myself writing more. It is one of the most beautiful and organic-sounding thing my ears have heard in a lifetime. The point is not in the instruments used, it's in the way HOW they are used. I didn't think it was possible to reach so high creative and artistic level, writing meditative ambient. Enlightenment has become audible. Enjoy this feeling.
