Recorded by THE BEATLES & Tony Sheridan Hamburg 1961

Before beginning their recording career, The Beatles recorded a few tracks in Hamburg in May 1961 as the backing group for British singer Tony Sheridan. Some of these recordings were released on singles in 1961, but they began to turn up on albums only after the Beatles became famous. This should in no way be consider their first album, not only their skills rudimentary, but Sheridan takes all of the lead vocals on this set of fairly tame covers of popular and early rock standards. Only “Cry for a Shadow” was an instrumental written by John Lennon and George Harrison (the only one ever made!), and was responsible for bringing the group to the attention of Brian Epstein.
