* Recorded live in Cameroum; The Congo; Ethiopia; Liberia; Malawi; Nigeria and Rhodesia." This recordings were collected in 1963-64 by Robert Kauffman with a grant from the Union Theological Seminary, New York City.
They form part of a larger "Library" of recordings of new church music that is evolving in non-European countries.
Some of the recordings were made directly from the live performances; others were loaned by Radio stations or individuals."
Mr. Kauffman spent five years in Africa under an assignment with the Methodist Church to study and encourage the development of African church music.
