Commercial early- to mid-1980s mid-tempo boogie sound that might have gotten some radio and "minor league" club play in NY City but does not meet the "top club" standard. There was much, much better mid-tempo boogie material on the airwaves and in the clubs during this period. One group that comes to mind is Aurra. I know because I was there :-)

And an Indie/small label production does not automatically equal musical quality. A mediocre record like this one is not worth big $$$, unless you find gullible collectors obsessed with collecting anything who are looking for obscure tracks to over-hype. This record does not meet top club standards.

The vocals might not be the best, but the production is pretty amazing. I love Aurra, but major label $$$ production does not equal musical quality.

I definitely understand using pitch to fine-tune the pacing of a record, and there are many records I think sound better pitched slightly up or down, but if I have to adjust the pitch that much (+4) on a record to get it to sound good, then I will just pass on it and play something else :-)

Thankfully, I got hold of this one before the hype machine was in full gear. This is actually an improvement to the original on TCI, with a more s tripped-down mix that better highlights the bass, giving it for of a NYC/NJ garage sensibility of that time.
