Two Great Songs the A Side definitely features Rick Wakeman on Piano, the B side is the only place where AMMO's version of this song is available, The A side was covered by Cass Elliot and The B Side by Sandie Shaw.Ammo should have stuck with the Name Butterscotch and they might have got a wider audienceI was responsible for compiling the AMMO CD and it's sleeve notes for Angel Air

The group Butterscotch had its origins in 1964 when David Martindropped in at Geoff Morrow's home, where Geoff was songwritingwith Chris Arnold. Geoff and Chris were writing a new song for Roy Orbison, "In Thoughts of You". However, Larry Parnes heard it firstand procured it for Billy Fury whereupon the single reached number 5 in the UK.Arnold, Martin and Morrow decided to form a songwriting partnership, AMMO (an acronym based on their last names). David Martin had releaseda number of singles on various labels and was the lead voice on all the demosthat AMMO recorded. The demos were so finely produced that only the addition of strings and brass would have been needed for a finished recording. The trio had made a demo of "Don't You Know" and felt it could be a hit. A jar of butterscotch sat in the office and three decided it would becomethe group name and took the "Don't You Know" demo to RCA. AMMO licensed the track to RCA for release, but it received little airplay until Arnold, Martin and Morrow came up with the idea of re-recording the song with new lyrics mentioning the name of every Radio 1 DJ. As a result, the record began to receive frequent airplay and reached number 17 in the UK with an 11 week stay on the charts. RCA also issuedthe record in the US (it did not chart there) and paid for Butterscotch to tour six US states.
