Sorryyy
I just stopped listening to the old version altogether. Yeah, it's better, the vocals are better, the intro is longer (why the hell did they make the intro shorter? harder to mix now) but I deleted my file of it, I only listen to the new version on vinyl I have, and slowly I'm forgetting the old version. I'm forcing myself to like the new one and to my surprise it's working... just glad to have it. No point complaining really

Just leaving a comment here to remind you for all of eternity that the original is by far the best, and frankly, the new version is terrible.

Unbelievably strong. Can anyone let me know if this is actually getting a repress?

Do you mean the original pressing or the Stripped & Chewed reissue version with Mimi vs Fannie? The S&C version will absolutely be available again in the next couple months, but as far as I know there are no plans currently to reissue the original as-is.

Mimi and fannie are both really good. Low fi sound of mimi or the crisp sound of fannie they are both really swinging. If u grown up with mimi it is hard to leave the nostalgia glassess.

Just incase anyone reads that and gets confused: that's the wrong way round there man- Fannie is the original, Mimi the new version. Really enjoying the new vocal!

I much prefer the new vocals on Mimi likes to dance, i always thought that the original sounded like she had a severe case of emphysema, really breathy quite irritating vocals that ruined a great house tune, new ones are brilliant though

Quite like the new vocals too! They're not a woman though, they're sung by Merle himself- such a talent.

100% real talk...the new vocals are terrible and completely ruin fannie likes to dance. on the other hand the previously unreleased "beautiful" is nice. lesson here is dope lo fi music is often just a moment in time...trying to go back can rob it of its magic.

Totally agree! I think the off-kilter quality of the vocals in the original version played an important part in its unique character...

Phobism
Disappointed by the new vocals to be very honest. The roughness of Fannie is gone and Mimis voice is too exaggerated. I loved the idea of having new vocals due to Merwyn's life changes (congrats on finding true love!), but the new vocals are essentially too clean for me. Rest of the record is awesome with classic Chicago house tracks you definitely want in your set.Apart from my bitching, this is a record I recommend getting. All my opinions are based on the snippets, so come back here once I get the full thing for better comments. Thanks for repressing this :)

Yeah I feel kinda the same, while the roughness is gone it kinda makes sense to have some sort of respect level for Merwyn to go through the pain in the ass of repressing a record, which was private press in the first place. Also if I was someone and had a famous song written about someone I wasn't married to, it would also make sense to change the lyrics and in this sense the content of the record actually has a living history. Imagine being Merwyn and djing a party and having to explain to people that you just re-pressed a record about an ex-girlfriend, with your wife probably there or something. That shit would suck. And the other 4 trax are all sick and still bang exactly the same so thank you for that.
