Keyboardist/singer Dany Darras and guitarist/bassist/singer Jean-Louis Desumeur were both members of the short-lived Rock band Présence in early-70's.When Présence disbanded in 1973 they decided to move on as a duo.Inspired both by the music of THE BEATLES and the French Prog/Rock movement they recorded their debut ''Temps'' in 1975, released on RCA Victor. They were helped by another member of Présence, guitarist Alain Crepin, while the drums were handled by André Sitbon, formerly of Laurent Petitgirard's Pop instrumental de France.''Temps'' is maybe a much vocal-oriented album, but it has a lovely progressive flavor throughout, highlighted by the delicate keyboard parts and the flexible guitar work, representitive of Darras' and Desumeurs' great talents.Basically this is a Progressive Pop album, filled with excellent French vocal harmonies, where THE BEATLES' inspirations shines through. The instrumental parts are very nice with some floating synthesizers and both psychedelic and bluesy lines in the guitar moves.Darras performs also on saxophone in a couple of tracks, where the jazzy vibes mix with the melodic  Psychedelic Pop/Rock of the duo, while there are also plenty of acoustic preludes contained.''Temps'' has overall a very smooth and romantic atmosphere throughout, but the well-crafted vocal arrangements, the diverse musical background and the instant melodies complete a highly artistic work.Sometimes the mood tends to be a bit theatrical in an almost ANGE vein due to the mass of deep vocal harmonies, but be sure to meet some good instrumental depth along the listening with often a rich enviroment.Overlooked, hidden gem of French Prog/Pop Rock. Not your typical singer/songwriter album, the jazzy, symphonic, Folk and psychedelic hints are sufficiently adjusted by the duo in a form of unique French Pop. Recommended.
