Lansing is simply an acid-trance ripper of the most glorious nature.It starts off with a very DJ-friendly minimal intro, which provides no hints of the insanity that lies ahead. However, when the first breakdown arrives, a more serious tone saturates the piece, and now you get some idea of the acidic minefield that awaits.After this breakdown, the track chugs along for about a minute, setting the stage for the major segment of the piece. This consists of a long breakdown that features several stages, and spans over a full minute. As the build-drums begin to intensify, along with the main acid line, your brain senses that an all-out 303 attack lies just around the corner, ready to bury you in brilliant and dynamic acid rain.When the release finally comes, it blows you away more than you even expected, boiling 303s layered on top of pounding, lightning-fast kicks. And just when you think it can't possibly get any more amazing, the main acid line begins to lash out at you rhythmically, in a way that seriously reminds me of an acid-whip. Just incredible, 5/5.Linear is pretty good, too, save for a minimal/dissonant spell between the two major break/release sections. But it also features a healthy dose of acid and pace. Good stuff, 4/5.The World is Flat exudes a more melodic, progressive vibe, though it's fair to say that both the intro and outro come across as classic, Eve/Telica-style hard trance (i.e., a decently hard percussion scheme, a driving synth-bass line, and at least a nominal helping of acid/303 work). This is really good stuff, and although the main melody strikes me as a bit formulaic/stock, I'll still give the piece 4/5.In my opinion, this is a hidden gem. If you don't own it, and you like hard/fast acid trance, then get off your duff and pick this record up!
