Tiny Colour Movies was a film project by John Foxx and Mike Barker. It was made up from a collection of lost super 8 movie clips owned by a friend of Foxx. Music was then written by Foxx to accompany the project. Tiny Coloured Movies was premiered at Brighton Film Festival and later shown at various other venues. The music was then released as a CD without the film footage apparently due to copyright problems. It is a shame that the whole project could not be released as a DVD because the music alone is only part of the whole thing. The first track, Stray Sinatra Neurone is one of the better known pieces accompanying lost clips of American film from various studio cutting room floors. The images look like they came from the fifties; one clip seems to show the back of a man looking like Sinatra himself. Skyscraper is a great piece of atmospheric film music that was written to accompany time lapsed imagery of American skyscrapers with speeded up shadows shrouding them into the afternoon. Underwater Automobiles was a beautiful pairing of sound and vision; the images produced by Robert Rouncefields underwater cine camera coupled with Foxx’s music make astounding viewing. The images included Rouncefields girlfriend swimming naked underwater in a Montana lake over a floor of abandoned automobiles.
