WALKING IN JERUSALEM is part travelogue, part collaborative effort from Random Inc., as he traverses the city and mixes it up with some of his Mille Plateaux labelmates, interspersed with field recordings. So there's plenty of experimental ambiance to be had here, from the low build of "Entering Jerusalem (Coming From The West)" to the jittery strings of "Jerusalem (Coming From The East)." Tim Hecker brings his particular sonic refraction onto ""In Musrara (Morosha)," while the Electric Birds bring a touch of ethnic flavor into "In Mamillah" with an altered sample. The Rip-Off Artist, for "In Har Hazofim," gives into echoing abstraction, and Dub Taylor brings the glitch house for "In Mahane Yehuda @ 4:34 PM (On April 12th 2002)." He even goes head-to-head with his own alias, Bizz Circuits, for the deep, resonant percussion on "In Sheik Jarra." A tantalizing journey overall.
