The u-Ziq mix is the definitive version IMO. Also one of the very first records I bought. The guys at the record store started calling me "Aphex Tim" 'cause that's what I'd always ask if anything new came in.... And it says something that I still consider this one of the peaks in my collection.

If you have this original CD and it is still without too much inner/outer edge oxidation, Back it up Now ! My copy is so oxidised that Exact Audio Copy reports erros on the 28 mix (woe is me)

Gotta leave a huge recommendation for the 'On (28 Mix)' here. It is clearly the best track of the single despite being completely beatless, and captures an ambiance which is far removed from conventional chillout themes. Sounding more like a dirge being played in an immense Martian cathedral. It definitely fits in very well with the theory mentioned below that it may be the unofficial 28th track from 'S.A.W. Volume II'.The Reload and µ-Ziq mixes didn't really move me back when I grabbed the 'On' singles, and I still find them a bit underwhelming today to be honest. The 'D-Scape' mix is another example of Richard D. James inventiveness with it's odd use of percussive sounds which builds into an epic and driving piece of music. Definitely one for Aphex's own mixes.

The '28 Mix' to On sounds in no way like the original track it is supposed to be based on. This, and the fact that the name of the mix is '28' has given way to the assertion that this mix is actually the 28th track on Selected Ambient Works II that found its way onto this release instead. Of course this hasn't been confirmed by James himself but it would not be of any surprise.

Remixes by Reload and Mu-Ziq are terrific! Good early electronic music.. Love it.. I think this release is unfortunately deleted long time ago, like the Ventolin Remixes..
