I've never written a review before but i felt compelled to say something about this album. I first purchased this compilation on cassette while on holiday in Cornwall back in '93 but more recently i picked it up on CD at a local car boot sale for next to nothing. It's quite an unusual choice for me as I usually buy dance or rock music. I think i originally fancied getting something to chill out to on a hot lazy summer afternoon and this collection is ideal for that purpose. Even if you're not familiar with soul or blues music I feel this is a well put together compilation that anyone who appreciates real music with feeling will enjoy. There's maybe the odd track that's a bit cringe worthy but most of the tracks are solid despite their age and overall it's a marvellous release. I could enthuse about it all day but do yourself a favour and seek it out. It's worth it just for the excellent 'Drift Away' and '(Take A Little) Piece Of My Heart' alone.
