A selection of bizarre odds and ends from the Nurse With Wound archives, Scrag! was a limited cassette release from 1987 in which Steven Stapleton. Most of the tracks are also found on A Sucked Orange, a more fleshed out version of the concept, while 'Wisecrack' has a better home on Large Ladies With Cake in the Oven. Two otherwise unavailable tracks here are 'Praying Mantis' - an alternate, and far less difficult sounding version of 'Phenomenon of Aquarium and Bearded Lady' from 1983's Gyllenskold 12" - and 'Automating (Some More)', in which wavering church organs sit alongside David Tibet making sex noises. Some of the overlap with A Sucked Orange is in the form of slightly alternate versions, but nothing radically different. Scrag! was re-issued in 2012 as part of a double CD package with A Sucked Orange, which was the only sensible way to make this collection available again. On its own it offers little ASO lacks, but it plays out as a nice alternative version for the NWW collector.

I do not own the cassette. I have listened to it from the Flawed Existence box. Amazing. It reaffirms my belief that NWW continued to shock and stay at the sonic forefront well into the 80's.
