Notes

Being a young producer with 22 years of age, John Small a.k.a. SOHN JAMAL, has put together an outstanding effort on the 9-track span of SUZY. Having recently graduated as a Jazz major while living between Tokyo and the US, has proved to be a creative influence to his compositions. SUZY was written between the Fall of 2016 to the Summer of 2017, it was a time where he was questioning his own idea of home. As an American growing up in Japan, there was always a fleeting sense of identity with nothing ever being constant. He found refuge in music as his only constant, and it reflects in this album, SUZY.

All the tracks were written on the road, or during formative moments in his life. Carrying a trusty SP404 sampler, He worked with very limited hardware in Nepal to the Denver International Airport, Miami and of course, Tokyo. Ranging from breakbeat, ambient, alternative electronica - the outstanding musicality in SUZY is a breath of fresh, mature musical production from a very young talent.
