How much Spanish guitar does Jam & Spoon love? Well, it appears here again on "Radio Mix" of DON'T CALL IT LOVE, a competent, if not not thrilling piece of club-craft. The guitar does fall out, however, on the "Radio Dance Mix" and "Clun Mix" in favor of HI-NRG synths. "Call It Love" then, strips out Plavka's vocals for a more straight-on trance experience, which is almost a return to form for the Jam & Spoon boys, with the "Deep Club Mix" reprising the high-pitched tones from their classic "The Age of Love" remix and going slightly slower than the "Big Club Mix." Tiefschwarz, for their mixes, go house-disco, inserting new soul vocals into the track, recreating it all together. Their "The We Call It Love Village Mix" goes more melodic and slightly deeper. On the b-side, "Warm Dead Dog (Auto Man Mix)" goes into some pretty sweet electro territory, something heretofore unheard from them, and a solid offering. Don't call it love... call it pretty good.

"Don't Call It Love" was the last single taken from Jam & Spoon's "Kaleidoscope" album. Co-written by Noisie Katzmann, known for his work for many Eurodance acts, the album version of this track was somehow experimental, and so it was remixed for a commercial release. The "Club Mix" is remodeled using a few elements from the original and incorporates the vocals from Plavka. The "Big Club Mix" is a dark, high BPM Trance version with short male vocals ("Do What You Want... Don't Call It Love!"), remixed by using the formula of their previous club hit "I Pull My Gun Once/Twice". The "Deep Club Mix" is a slower variation of the previous mix. The full unmixed version of "Warm Dead Dog" is another good reason to own this single, although the Auto Man remix is not as convincing as the original. The last two mixes by Tiefschwarz are completely different, with a Disco twist and joyful vocals.
