Original recordings made at Mississippi State Penitentiary, Parchman, USA, 1947. First release was distributed with inner sleeves made of rice paper and contains a gatefold insert with background to the tracks and lyrics, housed in a double sided laminated 'flipback' cover [see images].
Although it's not stated on the cover, the full release is in mono.
