I thought I had this stashed away somewhere, under the amazing techno from the nineties stack. What do you know, it somehow got lost in the shuffle. So I treated myself with this revamp of a well known, loved and played out classic.Emmanuel takes the beat-box beating original and drives it over the edge with devastating warehouse drums, old school siren sweeps at the beginning and effective break down applying reversed trash can beats. Not on the cerebral side of things, but lethally effective. The Thomas Schumacher repaint goes a little bit deeper, using acidic paterns to create tension before the final take off. It eases down on the rap vocals, and takes a more harmonic route, if anything about this track can be described as such. The original is something you should be all too familiar with by now. Heavily tweaked vocal bits, huge, almost hoover like bass line and a very very cool break with back spins, heavy DJ scratches and wonderful throw backs to "back in the day" b-boy mayhem with sampled beat boxing. Used to get canned globally, and at its time, sounded like little else. On a little side note, though: this formula has been imitated and reused countless times since, so while it may not stand out like it used to, bare in mind that it's two decades old. One of the many, many club bangers of his from the magical hat of this versatile and interesting producer.Nice homage to an excellent techno pounder!
