Here we have a fairly unknown electronic shoegazer band from New York if I'm not mistaken. Project Skyward's second full length release. Like the styles would suggest, you have allot of shimmering chords, basic progressions, drowned out, gloomy, airy and echoing melodics. If thats your cup of tea check this out. This has a bit more electronic feel than the normal. Including seques from track to track even on beats like a dj would mix. Track 2, Sirius the Brightest Star takes it to anthemic level in synth pop genre pretty successfully. Ulrich Schnauss joins the band for tracks 3 and 7 and adds his nice touches. Superblaster is the reason I bought this cd. This ones gets into an IDM mood with guitars and keyboards equally ringing out a most cathy melody while the vocals nicely add the pop moments to make a fine, fine track. Hungry Ghosts even turns out a dub techno chords feel as it progresses. Lunacy's guitars almost sound like The Cure off of Kiss me, Kiss me, Kiss me period. Ironically the song Factured is where the ideas seem to have run their course as this song doesnt have much of a point or direction. But then Memories valiantly saves the turn for the worse with a terrific sounding shoegazer sound you would be happy to hear on Soulvaki. Also, it has the best vocal delivery on the album and the most timeless sound. Fair-weather Friend seems to find the band in it's comfort zone and shows that there is some growing potential and some real talent in this band. Fantastic sounding there and very triumphant song. To a drum n bass shuffle beat no less as the song melody fades into the ending instrumental completing the album. While a good producer or a better mastering engineer could take his band to another level this is spirited effort. If you consider yourself an eclectic music listener you will enjoy taking a chance with this album. After listening to this for about the 7th time over the last two days I am starting to hear the charm and songs really stick out on their own well. Perfect running time for the cd as well. Very, very much enjoying this. I'm enjoying it like the first time I heard new music when I was a kid.
