The high-end chords (according to the artist) are not from Bone Thugs-n-harmony (1st of tha month). The progression is certainly the same. The fat bass, though is what makes the track.

Arryar
hands down one of the finest releases of 2015. og cut is a track teeming with beautiful elements (those pads, the bassline, the sparkling chimes in the back of the mix) in UR style while 90s cuts opts for a subtle 4heroish slab of heat

Ok, fair do's, lovely track, well done. Apologies if I'm wrong here, but do have a listen to the Kruder and Dorfmeister mixes of that Bone track and you'll see where I'm coming from. They could easily be same chord, I suppose. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K-TFlsHZCIs] I was quoting 'whiteawakening' with the descriptives. Even if it ain't exactly the same chord, the progression is the same. Easy E probably was sampling one chord too! I was expecting contradiction here, but the likeness is really uncanny. On the A side of 'SSS', it's the crunchy bass that makes the track and that's 100% OG. Peace, out.

The pad is actually a chord from a Juno 106 which I recorded and then put in the sampler to play back. The twinkly bits and chimes (as you call them) are from the Korg M1 : )

Bone Thugs-N-Harmony '1st Of Tha Month' (on the Kruder & Dorfmeister versions is where yer pads/sparking chimes are snatched from (unless it's something they pinched off some old jazz funk thing originally)).

This Bristolian wonder-woman has really made a splash in 2015. Continuing her fine run of records from 2013/14, this year has seen her profile rise considerably along with the size of her production catalogue, with records gracing Future Times, Secretsundaze, Idle Hands sub-label Brstl and lastly, Funkineven’s imprint, Apron. This record is something of a departure from her earlier records - it’s faster, sleeker and even tighter, coming in the form of luminescent electro - teased in a few mixes as the year proceeded, it finally landed in late November. It’s an utterly addictive track which I find myself sticking on repeat frequently. The b-side too, is very strong; a great re-jig from Funkineven loosens up the original for a track more languid in sound, but equally as vivid. A great record, which leaves me excited for what she comes through with in 2016.
