After missing this completely in 2014, I must confess I lost out big time by not giving this any attention. This is a superbly crafted journey through the depths of modern deep drum & bass. The styles differ across the LP, but it feels very coherent, well balanced and programmed and arranged to perfection. Each track is oozing with style, emotion and great technical ability. including 'You Must See' a liquid track to die for, being ethereal, searching and warm. The beats are so slick, the vocals delicate and haunting, the bass deep and rumbling but not taking over. This is as good as Calibres' best. 'Inta National' is a proper hard stepper with killer dance floor flavour. again its just so well put together, sounding so good on a great system. 'Keep It Moving' is a technical masterclass, blending complex and exciting drum breaks and percussion layers, with dirty and heavy bass lines, rave stabs and electrifying good sound elements. Proper good stuff indeed'Sideways' is a hyper funky track with skippy beats and a great groove. Its reminiscent of one of Breaks more laid back numbers, again produced to a high standard. A real foot tapper. 'Edges' slams you hard with a dark and brooding atmosphere, crunching breaks and doom laden bass. Its a real deep stepper with superb cymbals and hi hats. I imagine Zombies might like this.................!'Open Up' this is a real techy number, with superb rhythms, solid stabs and deep subs. I love the slick percussion, its nicely programmed with well spaced out elements. 'Muted' is another excellent Liquid affair, this time extremely soulful, and extremely hypnotic. The beat patterns and choice of sounds selected is again superb. The other tracks are equally well put together also. Ulterior Motive deliver a really good album of out and out Drum & Bass. The breadth of sound on display is impressive, the is attention to detail high and many of the tracks are very progressive, making them all very listenable. Loved it from start to finish
