Stellar record. Usually I'm quite wary of 'live' records as the sound quality can be sub-par compared to studio recordings, but this is really good, some of the tracks, for example, 'Swastika Eyes' are even better than the original versions..

Amazing concert! Can't say much about vinyl quality because of noisy music style. My copy has a poster inside.

Anyone wondering why this one sounds so good - it's mixed by Kevin Shields.

"Live In Japan" is a fantastic live Primal Scream recording!! They chose a comprehensive setlist, hitting upon a number of the genre's which Primal Scream cover, from to techno to punk, with an almost equal number tracks of rock & acid house. About 55%% of the material is from lps: "XTRMTR", "Vanishing Point" & "Evil Heat" & about 45% from "Screamadelica", so while it is well-rounded Primal Scream fare, it does lean just slightly more in the punk/techno. direction. Bobby Gillespie, as well as entire band, are very "on" for this one! (Seems most bands are when they perform for their Japan fans, dating as far back as Deep Purple's "Made In Japan", Cheap Trick's "Live At Budakhan" and more recently, even though already 14 years ago, DVD Oasis "Live in Japan" 2002 on Spotlight label, which I don't believe is a bootleg, per se. It's been discontinued, but may be available here.) It would seem to be a mutual attraction & admiration between Primal Scream and audience, which is nice to witness.) Sound quality is absolute tops for live recording!! It doesn't "spell out" soundboard, but it's on Sony Music Japan, so I don't believe that it's a bootleg recording. Between that & the sound quality, each would indicate it most certainly is soundboard. Must also note Bobby Gillespie's voice is particularly very strong on this live CD...he sounds in absolute top form!! Especially great performances on "Medication" & "Rocks" (but, then they're particular favorites of mine!) "Live in Japan" is a great addition to any Primal Scream fan's collection & it can also be a good starting point for anyone new to Primal Scream. I would just warn newcomers some tracks are pretty strong in lyrical content & sound. "Live In Japan" would be akin to jumping off the high-dive into Primal Scream, while "Screamadelica" would be wading in.
