Kaito doesn't waste any time getting to the euphoria with UNTIL THE END OF TIME, as "Sky is the Limit" starts off on a trancey trip immediately. The melodic textures never flag, but with "I'm Leaving Home," the rhythm gets markedly heavier. That heavy beat continues into "Will to Live," even as the music itself starts to float more, even as the piano bounce of "Run Through The Road In The Fog" seems subsumed under the rhythm. But as excellent as all this is, I found that there's no as much variation to the track as I'd like -- they all seem content to drift in the same moody atmosphere. Even though the breaks of "Behind My Life" only start to vary the rhythm some, the melodic quality stays the same. But this seems nitpicky, when you get a track as dreamy as "Inner Space." "Star of Snow" seem almost like the proto-typical Kaito track, but "Dear Friends" slows things down, as if in anticipation of the ambient version of the album, with more digital blipping. But "Smile" takes an entirely different tack, with an acoustic guitar as its centerpiece. I think a bit more of this would have helped propel this album above and beyond. Still, just above is pretty good!
