Regardless of whether this is nu-electro or not, I like the diversity of different styles on this LP. I like a fair chunk of the tracks available. I could do without the cockney/mockney rapper specials (YAMASAKI / REDVENOM take a bow) but on the whole not the dog it's being made out to be people who have crossed swords with Morgan Khan over business deals, bad sex or broken dreams, none of which have relevance to me when the needle hits the vinyl... I prefer this to volume 2, I know that. Please bring out Nu-Whatever 5 on vinyl.

I bought the CD cause I heard the clips on the site and on the radio and was already blown away by the tracks. CD arrived today and just one thing to say forget the clips and what you heard on the radio...this LP is the absolute DOPE!!! I have ripped 14 tunes onto my phone already...all brilliant! What are my favorites then? Well this is really difficult as each tome I play the album other tracks shoots up my list. I own all the Nu Electro series and my ratings are BEST is vol.4 (by a long way), then vol.3, third is vol.1 and least favourite is vol.2. Don't know why people are dishing the album apart from what has been said about some kind of hate campaign (?). Really sad when this happens.I think what makes Nu Electro vol.4 the best is the diversity of tracks and that the songs are killer! I have 2 children (well teenagers) and we all have our favs which is rare these days. Hate was is happning to music these days and thought that I would not buy an album again, but this is a definite 5/5 and I am just going to buy the Vinyl as this may be the time to get out my turntables again! (posted in the right section section this time!)

OK, first off Ive been keen as beans for all the new street sounds nu-electro releases, but Im pretty disappointed in this one. Look, I dont want to hate on this album, or street sounds, but this was a very poor realease. As others have indicated, there is a plethora of crazy dope electro out there, and this pales in comparison. You caould get almost any debonaire record release and it would hands down be better than this. The previous Nu-Electro albums were great, although the last one kinda waned a bit this is just not worthy of the Street Sounds stamp.I'll break it down track by track in unmixed playlist order.1- DJ Cheese – More Of The Raw > sorry, but this belongs on a return of the DJ type release. FAR from electro, I have no idea what this is doing on here. Its a great track, but confuses the hell outta me as to why its on here?2- Davy Dmx Feat Chuck D – I Remember Hip Hop > as much as I like this track, it aint electro, old school hip hop is what it is. Some may argue on some old street sounds electro tracks being hip hop also, but they did have an electro vibe at least. This track has zero electro value other. Just having Davy DMX involved does not automatically make it electro. It also saddens me to talk down on a Chuck D track.3- Red Venom Feat Man Parrish – B-Boy Supreme (Boogie Down 2012) > I like this track, but it just sounds like a remix of Boogie Down(Bronx). I know it essentially is meant to be an 'update', but I dont feel its a remix worthy of a street sounds release, especially an electro titled one.4- Imperial Brothers – Breathe > pretty nice, but sounds more like a pop track with an elctro vibe, not an electro pop track, if u know what I mean. Definately one of the better tracks tho.5- Knights Of The Turntables – Electro Gumbo > now THIS is what the album needed more of. KOTT have never let me down and continue to deliver what they aim to provide, good solid electro. Best track on this release by far...unfortunately thats not saying much.6- Freakazoids, The – What Is A DJ (Street Sounds Remix) > sounding more like an interpretation of what is a dj? this track should have done its own thing and not used the classic track. I would have enjoyed it so much more if it didnt sound like some hardcore trance dj just destroyed one of my favorite tracks.7- Lil Rockin' G – Adventures Of Rockin' G > I want to hate this track but it redeems itself in places. The badly pitched vocoder/autotune vocals are poor, and overall it sound like a mastermix gone wrong. Theres too much going on to really call it electro. The basic production would have been nice, its like they just didnt know where to stop and went overboard, ruining what could've been a great track.8- Yamasaki & Mr Spin Feat CRF – Empty Handed (North South Mix) > this is what Im speaking of previously. Fly rhymes and an electro rhythm. It does edge a little closer to old hip hop as the verses go too long, but it does contain the vibe of electro. Still not something that grabs me by the balls tho.9- MTD – We Are The Future (Street Sounds Explosion Mix) > fits into the old electro pop sound quite nicely, but the vocals sound half hearted, I expect a video with a smacked out chick swaying with a feather boa. The rapping makes it sound like a bodgy pop track with guest MC to give it street cred (whatever that is). Should've used more vocoder as they at least get that right in the vocal area.10- Analog Knightz & Darxid – The Rhythm (Street Sounds Version) > being a Daxid fan this track already jumped ahead...but then they dropped trance sounds all over, why? Im not hating the vocals, but feel it could have been better with bassy vocaoder action. One of the better track for sure, still not a heavy rotation track tho.11- Diamondback Kid – Chambers Of Chaos (Electrofunk Remix) > once again capturing the nice electro pop sound reminiscent of shannon, but the rap goes too long. This is one of my preferred tracks of this release, tho friends of mine Ive played it too class it as house...I do not agree, but it is leaning that way.12- Cybernet City Soldiers – Cybernet City 2012 (CBR Orchestral Mix) > fat bass, whippy kicks, tight hihat, dope vocoder. As with the previous track, THIS is what electro should be. I would rate this as the best, but KOTT have their claws in deep, plus Im not so sure about the choir type sounds.13- Flashmaster Ray Feat Sin2 – Analog Feeling (Street Sounds Version) > Im sorry, but autotune is not vocoder. Once again something that could've been great it hit with bad modern r&b vibes. Upping the tempo and removing the vocals, or dropping the pitch in them could've given this track a high ranking...but it is what it is, & I dont dig it.14- Audio Sonic Crew – Fallout (New Video Remix) > this track is pretty tight, definately dig it. Checks all the boxes to put it at the top end of this album. In fact it has been the most popular amongst friends.15- Black Electronics – Funk Electric > beautiful track, unfortunately let down by some awful scratching. I mean really bad, like there was one take and they went "yeah, that'll do". If there is a version without the scratching I'd like it, please.16- Utilizer – Resistor > Pretty nice once again, bit too close to the hardcore trance that many of these tracks stray towards, which isnt a bad thing, but uneccessary. I still dig the track but wont find myself playing it all too much.To sum up, I found this to be a very ecclectic mix of tracks. Some that fit, some that try to fit, and some that just plain dont belong on an ELECTRO compilation. The omission of a mastermix is unusual, & the main mixtape version doesnt really do anything for me. I suppose the prvious releases were also a little hit & miss, but the percentage of miss on this one is much higher. Unfortunately I would not recommend this to anyone other than the electro fan with a bit of an open mind to other forms of electronica & hip hop.*I may come back and make ammendments on further listening, but this is a brief impression from a half dozen listenings

One or two tracks are okish and i would class them as 'nu electro'but the rest of this release is made up of Hip Hop,R&B and other genresso the given title of the album 'NU Electro Vol 4' is a bit misleading.Personally i wont be buying it as the tracks that i do likeare either already available on vinyl 12"s or will be out soon seperatleyas digital downloads .

Music average, nothing special about this release. But calling it "nu electro" is kinda lame.

This is the first new vinyl I've bought in many a year. The mastering is so warm with a plethora of different styles as has always been the case with the electro street sounds series. I feel honoured to have this in my collection

A wasted opportunity to showcase what is happening in the electro scene right now. Rather than get the brightest talent and top producers, the makers decided to go back in time and drag out stars of years gone by. The result is a very unbalanced album IMO with only a small number of actual "NU-Electro" artists appearing.NU-Electro ? far from it, more like old skool hip hop (which was much better than the offerings here)Much respect for the original series, not a patch on Nu-Electro 1+2.A release only for the nostalgic people methinks.DiamondBack kid is the highlight here for me.

This series is sadly going downhill at an alarming rate. There is nothing 'NU' about this album, its just old tunes being re used to make a fast buck on the back of the old classics from when Electro albums were something to cherish.
