Water Ride is a beautiful, lush deep house track which signalled Omid 16B's talent as a producer.You used to hear this played by deep house and progressive house DJs alike. Like all the best tunes, it's like a DJ set in a record with a beginning, middle and end. Deep, emotional, engaging but never boring. One of the tunes that put the mid 90s UK deep house scene well and truly on the map.21 years on and it still sounds great, proof that dance music can be timeless :-)

Stacey Pullen's mix has haunted & stayed with me since it first appeared, and still sounds fresh as a daisy. The Detroit Jazz sensibility comes through in the drums, as it does in the occasional Derrick May style arpeggiated synth- accordion type outburst. Moody, & brilliant. The Micronauts makes their version of WATER RIDE slightly more blippy, particularly towards the bottom end of the spectrum, but they hew close tot he original for the first half of their mix. For the second half, though, it's all bass throbs for pure Micronauts-type shaking. Stacey Pullen, on the other hand, keeps things smooth and low-key for his mix.

WATER RIDE is one of 16B's stronger tracks from his debut album, and the "Golden Edit" strips out most of the intro until we've reached the beats. The "Sleeping All Day Mix" slows things down for some easygoing breaks, while "The 13th Room Mix" amps up the drums for all sorts of club-banging. Solid.
