I'm really glad I didnt read these reviews before buying this album (I almost always do), because my pressing is really nice. Practically no surface noise. Overall, very warm and well balanced. Savage playlist to boot. Very happy with my purchase!

The soundtrack and artwork is great! Some songs suffer from poor compression, but most are good. The gate-fold is terrible. It's a shame because I would love to display it, but it doesn't seem to stay closed.

But by definition doesn't the act of displaying a gatefold mean keeping it open?

I can't for the life of me understand why this doesn't include the Run the Jewels/Danger Mouse/Big Boi track.

Listening to side 1 again. Granted, "Bellbottoms" sounds substantially better at a higher volume, but however half-decent it may be, it still suffers quite a bit from the compression. Things just get lost in the mix the more intense it gets, and the bass sounds woolly and imprecise. The EQ is SOMEWHAT full, but regardless, it doesn't leap out of the speakers like I'd expect it to. Maybe the reason people say this pressing sounds so good is because they have more expensive setups and carefully-tweaked room treatments....? That doesn't take away from the fact that this pressing (and especially the mastering of this song) hardly exploits the full potential of the rich analogue sound of vinyl.Not to mention that the dr.loudness-war.info entry for the digital version clearly shows that this track is the VERY worst for dynamics, with a DR rating of 5. No wonder - this track does sound more congested than most of the rest of the album. The Audacity waveforms for the MP3 download tell all (the MP3 files are derived from the same digital sources used to master the vinyl). All of the album is compressed to a certain extent as if it weren't obvious already, but "Bellbottoms" has some serious brickwalling going on. The only entries on the loudness-war.info website for JSBX's Orange album are for a 2010 remaster, which has the same DR rating for this track. God damn you record executives who cull these tracks from the first CD they can find without any regard for sound quality! It's a flawed master that even Ray Janos can't fix.I need to complain to Sony Music about my disappointment with this pressing, no matter how many tracks there are that have really good sound quality. Of course, let's not forget that the tinny needledropped version of "Hocus Pocus" found here is an unforgivable sin. Record label laziness at its finest - you can make money off of Baby Driver merchandise all you want, but you don't want people venting their disappointment to you at the release quality, so at least put some effort into using a decent digital source. It doesn't take too long.

Just got this yesterday. Everything about the artwork is beautiful, from the gatefold cover to the high-quality printed inner sleeves. I don't think the inner sleeves are the kind that'll harm the record... and they're a perfect match given that the vinyl isn't made of a staticky European vinyl formulation. The vinyl doesn't exactly have the lowest noise floor, but it's low enough to be negligible and only audible in-between tracks - and luckily for me, it has no blemishes other than a bit of audible crackle throughout side 2. The second record got a little warped in transit, but fortunately, it's minor. I'm just glad I didn't get a copy that's as noisy as numerous others have reported, given that this appears to be pressed by United, and their pressings are a bit of a crap shoot. [EDIT: One thing I forgot to mention is that both records have a slightly tight spindle hole, though I'm sure that will ease up over time.]Sadly, the sound quality isn't nearly as good as others make it out to be. Admittedly, I knew beforehand that this was cut from a digital source, but I had absolutely no idea that I'd be this disappointed with the sound quality of this release, given that all of the songs sound so good in the movie (they are derived from digital sources WAY better than the ones used for this pressing!). I guess I was right to be concerned about this being longer than normal for a double-LP with regular lacquer cuts.Soundwise, while most of the album is listenable, it's a rather up 'n' down affair. Certain songs sound VERY good, with an appreciably open soundstage and half-decent EQ, the best of these including "B-A-B-Y" by Carla Thomas, "Kashmere" by the Kashmere Stage Band, "Easy" by the Commodores, and "Debora" by Trex--err, I mean T. Rex.On the other hand, JSBX's "Bellbottoms", the centrepiece of the movie's awesome opening scene, clearly suffers the VERY worst from audible compression: it absolutely doesn't jump out of the speakers, with a totally boxed-in soundstage. This song absolutely deserves a presentation with a fuller, more open dynamic range, as well as a clearer high end, than the travesty featured on this vinyl pressing.Worse yet, the fake-stereo version of "Harlem Shuffle" featured on the album is saturated in muddy reverb, and it suffers from some of the worst tape hiss I've ever heard. It's drab in comparison to the warm, clear mono mix heard in the movie. "B-A-B-Y", "Let's Go Away for a While" and "Smokey Joe's La La" are faithfully presented in their original mono versions here, so I'm surprised the same care and attention to PROPER sourcing wasn't applied to "Harlem Shuffle"."Hocus Pocus" by Focus lowers the bar even FURTHER as far as sourcing is concerned: it is shamefully sourced from a NEEDLEDROP of what clearly isn't the best pressing around, replete with extraneous surface noise, sibilance/distortion, and unnaturally bright cymbals. All of these artifacts are audible in the version of this song found on the included MP3 download for this album.Thankfully, this transfer wasn't done with a Crosley-type record player, but it's still tragic that the QA department of a MAJOR LABEL let this amateur vinyl rip slip through the cracks and make its way onto the Baby Driver vinyl soundtrack. This embarrassing blunder could've been EASILY avoidable given that there are so many decent-sounding digital versions of this song out there, ESPECIALLY the one featured in the movie, which has insanely clear and upfront bass that just gets buried in the mix on the vinyl soundtrack.I'm tellin' ya, this shit is bananas. B-A-N-A-N-A-S.Other than those comically bad screw-ups, the vinyl version of the Baby Driver soundtrack is listenable, but at moments, the sonic presentation just doesn't recapture the full measure of the excitement and tension of one of the most iconic movies of 2017. Still, the overall sound quality is not so bad that it'll end up "taking up room in my collection gathering dust", as one other reviewer mentioned in his Discogs comments for the EU pressing.As the needle slowly trawls its way through each side, each song still conjures up memories all of the key moments in Edgar Wright's ever-unforgettable cinematic labour of love, regardless of the notable sacrifice of intensity in the mastering. For that reason, this representation of the artfully-curated soundtrack to Baby Driver is good to get if only for the fact that it allows you to listen to almost all of the songs in the movie sequentially.Even so, the very next day, I listened to an original Canadian pressing of Lament by Ultravox, and it outshined the Baby Driver vinyl in every way. Which led me to thinking... I'm pretty sure the sound would've easily benefitted from a DMM mastering by either Record Industry or GZ Media.

An utterly perfect soundtrack, and, without a doubt, THE essential driving component of one of the most creative and innovative films of the past few years. Baby Driver is such an intense rollercoaster ride of action, cliffhangers and emotional tension, and absolutely every damn song - yes, you heard me! - EVERY DAMN SONG in the incredibly diverse soundtrack has a purpose, a place in its respective scene, setting the pace and enhancing the tension however much it needs to be.I haven't got a hold of the soundtrack yet, but I'm sure that listening to all of the songs in sequence by their own right, as they are lovingly and faithfully presented here, would be an enthralling experience all its own - in fact, I'd go out on a limb and perhaps state that it could be even more enthralling than any other, since this collection of almost 30 songs basically comprises the movie's entire 'score', being almost as long as the film itself, and hardly misses a moment in the narrative.I say that because with soundtracks like this, it's certainly a lot easier to recall which song is associated with which moment in the film's narrative. In this case, it's not only that, but Baby Driver also has the extra advantage of a narrative that hardly goes a minute without incorporating a licensed tune in either the background or the foreground.... and, for that matter, being punctuated by a throbbing, steady rhythm.At the end, my point is this: I think listening to this no-BS, no-filler soundtrack on its own would be just as exciting as the movie. It takes you through every essential step in the narrative, and the mood of every song is sure to evoke vivid flashbacks to all the key moments in this instant-classic flick, one by one.While I've been a bit skeptical about how the sound quality of the vinyl version would turn out, given that the 90+-minute soundtrack is spread over no more than 2 LPs, it has Ray Janos' 'stamp of approval' on it, and the sound quality appears to have received consistent praise, so the only way to know is to find out myself.

I LOVE This soundtrack. Perfect balance of intense rock anthems and power ballads along with some funk, jazz, and blues thrown in. A great mixture of sounds and genres that perfectly compliment the film.

Mine didn't include the color insert/poster. Didn't buy mine til a few days ago from Amazon so maybe that was only for the early copies...Btw, my copy sounds fantastic, quiet and straight. I did use a vacuum machine on mine before I played it tho.

Mine doesn't have the poster either and I got it on Amazon just a few days ago. I think there should be a new, separate entry.

This is literally the same as the non-urban outfitters version 88985 44664 1 including the "Poster" which is basically a 12x12 card insert.

So much surface noise on Side 2 of this LP as well. Such a shame.

I got my copy from barnes and noble, and while this listing says it's an urban outfitters exclusive, i can't tell what makes the UO version any different from any other retailer's. obviously, this is not the discogs listers' fault, but i just don't get why urban are claiming it's an exclusive of theirs??

Wondering the same thing. Got mine from a local record store and it came with everything Urban is claiming to be exclusive (poster, download with extra song, etc.).

My copy sounds fantastic! Love having all these amazing songs together in one place!
