Great album bought on first release in Australia. Stereo SF1019, 1966. Frank was at his peak I think. Still the best live recoding ever in my opinion. No "Luck be a Lady" on this version either for some reason

This is very strange. This double LP isnt numbered the way all my other double LP's are. All the songs are here and are in order however LP 1 has side 1 and on the reverse side is side 3. The 2nd LP has side 2 and on the reverse is side 4. So to go from side to side 2, instead of just flipping the record over I have to change the the record to the other LP. Kinda stupid. This is also MISSING "Luck be a Lady"

Hi, actually not sure if this was answered, my apologies if it has, but the side numbering is so that you could load them onto a record player capable of playing two LPs (one would sit on the platter, the other sat on an arm above), so once side 1 was done, the needle would return to start position, then the second LP would drop, and the needle would automatically find it's way to the beginning an play. So you'd have Side 1 / 3 and 2 / 4... Do a search for automatic record player changer and you'll see the funky machine!

I think the numbering is done like this because they wanted to offer you to play the whole concerts from start to end without switching the sides (it is possible just if you have two turnables) - but I am not sure.About Luck Be A Lady, it isnt missing, it was just a bonus track for DVD-Audio released in 2003.

Amazing album, feels like you're right there in the room at the Sands with Frank. HOWEVER, there are two big pits in the vinyl in my favorite song "One For My Baby." I purchased it brand new, still in shrink wrap, so i'm pretty disappointed. I wonder if anyone else has this same issue. I'm a pretty new collector but i've never come across such an obvious defect in a brand new record... two of them to be exact. It looks like someone smashed the needle into the vinyl. The record skips for 4 or 5 rotations because of them. Just be aware. A little bit of surface hiss but that blends in with the airiness of the live recording sound of the atmosphere so it's not bothersome at all. Aside form that it's a great sounding record. I would still buy it again.

The original 1966 pressing featured a white border at the top and bottom of the front & back covers, giving the cover a "letter boxed" appearance (though that term didn't exist at the time.) Also, the labels will not have the WEA logo on them as the ones pictured here do. The word "STEREO" will be centered at the bottom of the label, in all capital letters & tracked out.
