From Shades Of Rhythm's Facebook page:"Back in 1987 we only had very basic equipment, in a way it's what made the music unique at that time , my Roland sampler only had about 8 seconds of sampling time at 12 bit quality, but you could reduce the bit rate and divide it up to get more samples but at less time. We had just come out of a record deal with BeatBox international from Biggleswade owned by an engineer called Steve Vincent, we only released one record with them, a mash up of sampled beats and electro with some ravey synths and a jazz funk housey b side called ’the JFJ (Jazz Funk Jack).I remember the engineer Steve getting annoyed as it was late at night when we decided to record some vocal chants saying ‘ "The Jazz-Funk, The Jazz Funk’ but one of us who, never admitted this til about a year ago, was singing ‘The Jazz Fuck, The Jazz Fuck’ which just turned us into giggling children and had to keep stopping the recordings. I recently watched the people do nothing episode where Grinder goes in the studio, it reminded me of this. Steve got well angry after about the 25th take, but still ‘the Jazz Fuck kept on going. In the end he gave up and the record actually says the Jazz Fuck….Years later the engineer released his own record under the name The Adventures of Stevie V called 'Dirty Cash', how ironic, as he never accounted a penny to us…. No hard feelings though as it fired us up to release the album ‘Frequency’ on our own label in 1989 and that led to ZTT signing us in 1990"
