Comparing to my copy of the original mint mono-release I lucked into at a garage sale. The mixes do sound different with a few more details coming through on the new issue. But the original pressing has more of a natural sound to it. My first impression of this new pressing is that the bass was mixed a little too high for my tastes. But when I turned it down a touch, I was able to hear some of the details that must have always been there. Very good all around enjoyable album, but would still stick with the 1st pressing which can be found on discogs for only $10 more or so.

I think this is the first official reissue of this album and the sound is very good. The vocals have great range and the instrumentation is dense and full. This album is a mini rock opera and there are a lot of little sounds and nuances that are given new life and clarity on this release. Very interesting music and a variety of songs, stand out track, "Wolf of Velvet Fortune."

Why hasn't Rhino done a deluxe treatment of this album like they did with "Bradley's Barn"? Wake up, Rhino!

The more I listen to this album - the more I like it. There are definitely elements of Dylan in it. I need to find out more about these guys and what else they did.
